Sat. 19th Aug. 2023	V	Burscough Dynamo (a) 1 - 0 (ht.-) scorer(s) : M. Mathias Curtain raiser! The First Team kicked off their season against Burscough Dynamos on Saturday, a team who won their league easily last season. We probably gave them a little too much respect in the way we played first half but we limited them to a couple of counter attacks and a 5 minute second half spell. Will Vaughan made a couple of outstanding saves, Mikey Mathias scored a wonder goal but MOTM goes to Jack Ryan. A lifelong Man Utd fan who has based his entire game on hero Henning Berg ... and what an imitation game he had. Well in Jack. Onto Hoole....
Tue. 22nd Aug.2023	V	Hoole United (a) 4 - 2 (ht.-) scorers : J. Charlson, K. Cummins, M. Mathias, T. Strangeway YEEHA! 2 games, 2 wins, 6 points. Don't think either ourselves nor Hoole can say it was a fun game. Dry, bobbly pitch and more meat and potato football than we would have liked. But a win is a win. Some outrageous touches and dynamism from Andy Crossthwaite gets him the MOTM. Tired legs now recovering ready for Saturday.
Sat. 26th Aug. 2023	V	Standish St. Wilfrids (h) 0 - 4 (ht.-) scorer(s) : -- Humbled! A game to forget as a patched up, leggy side came up against a side that featured the current Mid Lancs Prem's top goalscorer. We couldn't get a foothold and Standish ran out deserved winners. Score could have been wider had it not been for our own Dave Seaman and MOTM Will Vaughan. No midweek game so back to training and reminding ourselves of some home truths!
Sat. 9th Sept. 2023	V	Hoole United (h) 2 - 0 (ht.0-0) scorers : M. Mathias, J. Jemson The lads needed to light a fire in themselves at half time. Our possession football first half would have put anyone to sleep. Second half miles better, no-one more so than MOTM Mikey Mathias, who scored one goal with Jack Jemson netting the other. Should have been a bigger score and we'll need to be more clinical to reach our goals this season. Onto the next game.

Sat. 23rd Sept. 2023	V	Ribchester Rovers (h) 7 - 1 (ht.-) scorers : J. Gough, O. Jones, M. Mathias 2, D. Westwood, T. Strangeway, D. Edwards Although the results have been good, our performances hadn't reached what they could.... until this second half v Ribchester. Absolutely scintillating. Massive contributions from Luca at CB, playing out from the back, and the Chorley Cafu Ben Fry. Top of the league this weekend. LET'S GO

Sat. 7th Oct. 2023	V	Sir Tom Finney (a) 5 - 0 (ht.-) scorers : B. Fry, O. Jones 3, J. Jemson Back on track! We went away to Tom Finney after an absolute humbling at promotion rivals Norcross. Complete domination at UCLAN sports arena, made from belief: something we were lacking the week before. Goals from Fry, Jemson and the ever-improving Ollie Jones with a hat trick and MOTM
Sat. 14th Oct. 2023	V	Cherrybrook (a) 1 - 0 (ht.-) scorers : A. Moore Off we went to Wigan to play Cherrybrook on Saturday. A new team that's done well and has promotion ambitions themselves. A calm, composed performance was nearly enough after Alex Moore went on a run to put us ahead. I say nearly because with 10 mins to go, Will Vaughan became superman with an outstanding save. With 5 to go, he saved a penalty with one of the most outrageous saves you're likely to see. Huge win.
Sat. 28th Oct. 2024	V	Standish St. Wilfrids (a) 0 - 0 (ht.-) scorers : -- Time for an update! We headed to Standish looking for revenge after a humbling earlier in the season. Unfortunately we didn't get that despite having a goal chalked off for a dubious offside. An even game between two good teams on a bog of a pitch. Kev Cummins picked up the MOTM for another dominant performance at CB. What a season he's having!
Sat. 4th Nov. 2023	V	Cherrybrook (h) 2 - 1 (ht.-) scorers : L. Bell 2 Saturday gone took us to the half way stage in the season. Cherrybrook visited the Myerscough Arena and the game was played on 4G, a familiar setting for the visitors. We took the lead through our own Kevin Phillips (Liam Bell) before a bullet header equalised. The first half was defensive from us but secure. Second half we turned on the football and rightly got our rewards for a brave high press from @olijones07 and an absolute rocket from Liam Bell again. A massive 3 points. Half way stage and we sit second on goal difference behind next week's opponents Norcross. A long way to go yet in a season that is just hotting up. YEEHA!

Sat. 2nd Dec. 2023 Guildhall Cup Rd 1	V	New Longton Rovers Reserves (h) 4 - 1 (ht.-) scorers : M. Mathias, L. Hancock, A. Moore, J. Jemson GUILDHALL CUP Rd 1
		ONTO THE NEXT ROUND! All types of goals on show at the Myerscough Arena: an own goal, a Lampard-esque run by Alex Moore, a header from Luca Hancock and a Jack Jemson drive secured our passage through to the next round. We needed ANOTHER penalty save from keeper Will Vaughan to keep us ahead at 2-1. What a keeper. What a season he's having.
Sat. 9th Dec. 2023	V	Appley Bridge (h) 3 - 1 (ht.-) scorers : J. Jemson 2, J. Charlson We always enjoy playing "The Bridge". A good set of lads who have an extremely effective way of playing and are always a challenger at the top end of the league. The game was tough but luckily for us, it coincided with our best performance of the season so far. JJ takes MOTM with a brilliant performance at LM, a position he's grown into. The first of his two goals was a real rocket.
Sat. 16th Dec. 2023	V	Southport & Ainsdale Res (h) 2 - 0 (ht.-) scorers : L. Bell, Z. Adeoye The games roll on . . . and so do the wins. Another HUGE win against promotion rival Southport and Ainsdale. The football is the best we've produced all season. Huge testament to the players who keep listening, learning and improving. MOTM goes to Jonny Gough who was near enough faultless in the engine room. Goals from Zack and Liam take us 3 points closer to promotion . . . but there's a long way to go yet.
Sat. 6th Jan. 2024	V	Astley (a) 3 - 1 (ht.-) scorers : J. Charlson, O. Jones, J. Jemson The most impressive thing about this game was the reaction to going 1-0 down: complete and utter CALMNESS. We put our foot on the ball and did what we do better than anyone in our league: we controlled the game. Nice to also redeem ourselves against a good side who beat us on our own patch. We keep moving! MOTM to Ben Fry who continues to look like our very own Seamus Coleman.
Sat. 13th Jan. 2024 Guildhall Cup Rd 2	V	Shevington (a) 2 - 2 (WON on Pens 5-4) scorers : K. Cummins, M. Mathias CUP Rd 2 Testing ourselves Vs Shevington's first team was an assignment we couldn't wait to take on. What we didn't want though is going 2-0 down! Once we got a foot hold, we began to control the game and had Shevington on the ropes for what seemed like forever. We got one goal but it wasn't until the last kick of the game that our captain Kev came up with a collector's item! Jack Long at LB was absolutely terrific. He wears knee braces outside of jeans on a night out though. I'll leave that with you... 2-2 it ended and then we went through on pens. Onto the quarters!
Sat. 27th Jan. 2024	V	Burscough Dynamo (h) 3 - 3 (ht.-) scorers : R. Hollinghurst, M. Mathias, J. Jemson What a weird game. 3-1 up, looking polished and then we stopped attacking. A basketball game it became and Burscough did brilliantly to take the game back to 3-3. A real blow to our promotion hopes given how well norcross fc and cherrybrook fcl are playing. Rob takes the Motm award with a really good performance at RB.
Sat. 2nd Mar. 2024 Guildhall Cup Q.Final	V	Standish St. Wilfrids (a) 1 - 3 (ht.-) scorers : D. Westwood QUARTER FINAL DAY! Off we went to Standish to take on top of the Prem. It was a shame for both sides that the pitch was a bog but Standish were superb at times, especially their striker Yacob. We had a good 25 minute spell which proved we can compete if we get promoted. We wish Standish the best on the next round. MOTM goes to our former United academy player James Charleson (he asked me to include the reference to his former club). He looks a real find, adding steel to our midfield.

It was against Appley this time last season that our promotion push faltered. Imagine the thoughts when we went 1-0 down in this game! We rallied and got back into the game through some good goals and some genius from winger Zack. MOTM was Alex Moore who played at 8 and then 6. Calmness personified. Big win!
Sat. 16th Mar. 2024	V	Fleetwood Hesketh (a) 5 - 3 (ht.-) scorers : L. Bell 4, J. Gough A potential banana skin? We travelled to bottom of the league and were met by a really impressive Fleetwood side. Their pitch and facilities are excellent as were their tactics, looking to counter quickly on our high, possession game. We ran out 5-3 winners which flattered all but striker Liam Bell. An angry, super charged performance from the best player in the league on his day. Another +3. Long way to go but the target is on the horizon. We must keep going!
