Sat. 5th Apr. 2003

v

Burnley GS    CUP Round 1  (h)  1 - 3  (ht. 1-1)

scorers : Elgee

Cup is Straight KO. So we're out !

Sat. 15th Mar. 2003

v

Accrington Amateurs  (a)  1 - 2  (ht. -)

scorers : Stephenson

Another lack lustre effort saw us unable to capitalise on our spells of domination.

Sat. 1st Mar. 2003

v

Oldham Hulmeians  (h) 1 - 2 (ht. 1-1)

scorers : Ogden

A very disappointing performance, should've done much better.

Sat. 22nd Feb. 2003

v

Accrington Amateurs  (h)  2 - 4  (ht. 2-2)

scorers : Latham, Clarkson

A game in which we played well but were out battled as they scored at the right times to finish us off.

Sat. 8th Feb. 2003

v

Heywood St. James  (h) 1 - 2  (ht. 0-1)

scorers : Clarkson

A tough physical match ending up with us just losing out again to a top of the table side. At no time outplayed we couldn't get ahead in the game and suffered another dent in pride by losing to the odd goal in three.

Sat. 1st Feb. 2003

v

Bolton Lads Club  (h)  1 - 2  (ht. 1-1)

scorers : Latham

A very even entertaining match against the league leaders saw us take an early lead through Latham. Bolton equalised and had a spell on top just before half-time. We re-grouped and posed them plenty problems in the second period only to fall behind to a counter attack. Again we battled back and finished the stronger but good goalkeeping and the woodwork preserved Bolton's lead and left us pointless.

Sat. 25th Jan. 2003

v

O. Mancunians  (h) 3 - 2 (ht. 1-1)

scorers : Greenwood,Latham,Elgee

Broughton keep up the pressure on the leading teams with a victory against Old Mancunians. The first half was a very evenly balanced and just as we were getting on top Mancunians went ahead through a penalty. Soon after the start of the second half Broughton equalised through Latham and after 60 mins Greenwood headed Broughton into a lead. Old Mancunians came back strongly but with 15 minutes to go Elgee finished off a flowing movement with a well taken goal to give Broughton the points. A late goal from Mancunians completed the scoring.

Sat. 18th Jan. 2003

v

Thornleigh (h) 4 - 1 (ht. 0-1)

scorers : Greenwood,Latham,Ainslie,Dickins

After being 0-1 down, to a penalty, at half time we produced a barnstorming second half to over run our opponents. Four different scorers highlighted the fact that it was an excellent team performance, at least in the second half anyway.

Sat. 21st Dec. 2002

v

Walshaw SC  (h)  0 - 1  (ht. 0-0)

scorers :

Really poor game. Whoever scored first was always going to be favourite to win and it was they who got the only goal with 8 mins remaining

Sat. 14th Dec. 2002

v

Bolton Lads Club  (a)   1 - 4   (ht. 0-2)

scorers : Latham

Broughton got of to a poor start when after 5 mins a quick raid from Bolton resulted in a goal. During an even first half Bolton increased their lead when a deflected shot found the net mid way through the half. The second half belonged to Broughton who quickly pulled a goal back in the 50th min. when Latham scored. A disallowed goal should have brought the equaliser and Broughton could not get any reward for all their pressure. We were undone by two further goals in the last few mins (the last one being offside) which gave the scoreline an unflattering look.

Sat. 7th Dec. 2002

v

Astley Bridge/Sladians  (h) 4 - 3 (ht. 2-0)

scorers : Greenwood2,Latham,Ogden

Broughton make it four in a row. Broughton started brightly and after 10 mins Latham pounced on a mistake to open the scoring. Broughton continued to dominate and after 30 mins Greenwood scored a great individual goal. 2-0 at half time did not reflect our dominance of the match. More chances were spurned before in the 62nd min Ogden scored after some good work down the right wing . In the 65 min Astley Bridge scored a goal from a corner and then it was once more Broughton pressure that brought our 4th goal fron Greenwood. Just as we were wondering how many goals we were going to get Bellis went off injured and the defence leaked two late goals giving us a tense last five minutes.

Sat. 30th Nov. 2002

v

Walkden (a) 4 - 2 (ht. 1-0)

scorers : Greenwood3,Brown

Broughton topple the leaders. Although the pitch was heavy Broughton still managed to play football by using the wings and more than matched Walkden in the opening period. After 25 minutes Greenwood was quickest to react after the goalkeeper had blocked his first attempt and this seemed to demoralise Walkden. Although on top the score remained 1 - 0 at half time. Almost immediately after half time Walkden equalised but it was not long before Broughton were back in the lead through Greenwood again pouncing on a goalkeeping error. In the 60th minute Brown finished off another flowing attack and then after 65 minutes Greenwood converted a penalty for his hat trick. With a little more composure in front of goal Broughton could have had more goals. Walkden made the most of a mistake to score a late consolation goal.

Sat. 23rd Nov. 2002

v

Mostonians (a) 6 - 3 (ht. 2-)

scorers : Greenwood5,Elgee

The first half hour saw both sides playing some neat football before two goals in two minutes from Greenwood knocked the stuffing out of Moston and from then on Broughton got stronger and Moston weakened. Five minutes into the second half Elgee got the third goal and we awaited a goal feast. A bad offside decision let Moston score and gave them a brief glimmer of hope. The 65, 70 and 75 minutes brought three more goals from Greenwood. Then as Broughton relaxed Moston got two late goals. Amongst the many excellent performances a highlight was the raiding of Frank down the right wing and the quality of the crosses for Johnny.

Sat. 16th Nov. 2002

v

Horwich RMI (a) 3 - 1  (ht. 1-0)

scorers : Greenwood,Latham,Dickins

A truly great team effort saw us win well against top of the table oppostion. We spurned several other opportunities to score but were satisfied with the result and performance. Not for the first time this season we outplayed the opposition but this week the defence remained concentrated and hardly gave Horwich any opportunity to score. We opened the scoring after twenty minutes when Dickins crashed the ball into the roof of the net from a set piece. It was not till just after half time when we added to the score with a well taken goal from Latham. Our domination continued and Greenwood completed our scoring with 20 minutes to go. We failed to keep a clean sheet when a now relaxed defence let Horwich in for a consolation goal with five minutes to play.

Sat. 2nd Nov. 2002

v

O.Mancunians (a) 3 - 4 (ht.1-3)

scorers : Greenwood,Latham2

Once again Broughton return dissappointed from Manchester with no points. The weather was atrocious, the motorway hold-ups horrendous and the first eight minutes of the match a disaster as Broughton gave away three goals, it could only get better! After these goals Broughton played themselves back into the game and Greenwood scored from the penalty spot after 30 minutes and from that point it was one way traffic. This pattern continued in the second half and although O Mancs. caught us on the break early in the half with their fourth our domination of play never suggested we could not collect points. However it was not to be, although we scored 2 more goals through Latham and we battered their defence the ball would not go into the net. Lets hope some home fixtures bring us more luck.

Sat. 26th Oct. 2002

v

Thornleigh (a) 2 - 4 (ht. 1-2)

scorers : Dickins,Szmitt

The unavailabity of a number of players and a late kick off due to a motorway hold up was not the best preparation for the game. However Broughton started brightly and were playing the better football when midway through the first half they were hit by two goals in two minutes. They played themselves back into the game and Dickins scored with a header just before half time. The pattern of the first half continued with Thornleigh getting a third goal against the run of play. Broughton reduced the lead when Szmitt scored with a long range shot almost immediately after coming on as sub. In the last quarter Thornleigh got a fourth goal and despite much pressure from Broughton hung onto win 4 - 2. Although we did not win it was good to see a side containing so many young players playing the better football, a promising future ??

Sat. 19th Oct. 2002

v

Collegiate OB (a) 2 - 3 AET (FT. 2-2) LFA Cup

scorers : Latham 2

Another great Cup performance that could've seen us progress through to the next round. Against a strong side we played really well but couldn't finish them off when we had the chances. They in turn took their opportunity, albeit in extra-time, and held on to win after that. A great game, and all the best to Collegiate in the future rounds of the cup.

Sat. 12th Oct. 2002

v

Oldham Hulmeians (a) 3 - 2 (ht. 1-1)

scorers : Greenwood,Latham,Ogden

Basically a solid performance in which neither side played brilliant but we did dominate for long periods, and scored the required number of goals to take the three points

Sat. 5th Oct. 2002

v

Walshaw SC (a) 3 - 5 (ht. 1-0)

scorers : Greenwood2,Patel

The winning ways of the last three weeks deserted Broughton at Walshaw. In the tenth minute, after the usual shaky start, Walshaw failed to deal with a through ball and 'Faz' was quickest to the ball to score for Broughton. The remainder of the first half saw Broughton use the slope and wind to dominate the game but could not add to the score. The second half continued the way of the first until a cross-cum-centre drifted into the far corner of the Broughton net. This gave Walshaw hope and Broughton lost their earlier confidence. Walshaw who were now on top scored three more goals and appeared to be cruising to a victory. However with ten minutes remaining Greenwood's running paid dividends when he scored twice within as many minutes. Broughton laid siege to the Walshaw goal seeking the equaliser but the game only went out of their reach when Walshaw scored a breakaway goal to make it 5 - 3 and conclude the scoring. A disappointing and, we thought, somewhat unfair result.

Sat. 28th Sep. 2002

v

Chaddertonians (a) 4 - 1 (ht. 1-0) LFA Cup

scorers : Ogden2,Greenwood,Latham

Our best performance of the season against Premier division opponents. We need to translate this sort of form into our league performances. Every department looked and played solidly and finishing was of the highest order.

Sat. 21st Sep. 2002

v

Astley Br/Sladians (a) 1 - 0 (ht. 0-0)

scorers : Brown

The disappointing start to the season is now a distant memory as Broughton put in another solid performance to secure a 1-0 victory away from home. The first thirty minutes of the match was end to end, home side were lively and put a strain on our 3-4-3 formation but didn’t really trouble except for a shot easily cleared off the line. After thirty minutes Seddon switched with Wharton and shortly after Seddon was put through on goal and was unlucky not to score, the best chance of the half. Half time saw a formation change to 4-4-2 with Seddon at right back, Turner and Bellis at centre half and Wharton at left back. Latham was subbed with a groin strain handing youngster Murch his debut at left midfield. The second half started well and in the 52nd minute Turner played a long ball to Greenwood on the right wing, a good first touch and knock to Verow saw the midfielder take the ball past two defenders and cut the ball back to Ogden on the edge of the 18 yard box, to the right of goal. Ogden hit a great first time strike which flashed across the front of the goal. The alert Frank Brown in the right place at the right time fought off a defender to put the ball into the back of the net. Once again our fitness level shone through as the home side ran out of steam and failed to make any serious threat for most of the second half while Broughton continued to press and were unlucky not to score a second.

Sat. 14th Sep. 2002

v

Walkden (h) 4 - 3 (ht. 1-1)

scorers : Heywood 2, Brown, Spensley

After a poor run of results this outstanding victory against a, previously unbeaten, side was much needed. We dominated against a rough team, refusing to submit to intimidation and finally prevailed.

Sat. 7th Sep. 2002

v

Mostonians   (h)  0 - 1 (ht. 0-0)

scorers : -

A match we dominated and fell to a late sucker punch. Our missed chances were underlined when we failed to clear a routine set piece.

Sat. 31st Aug. 2002

v

Horwich RMI  (h)  0 - 3 (ht. 0-1)

scorers : -

The better side on the day won.

Sat. 26th Apr. 2003

v

Accrington Amateurs  (h)  3 - 2  (ht. 1-2)

scorers : Szmitt,Greenwood2

At 0-2 down against the team requiring a win to have a chance of the title it didn't look good. But the lads battled hard pulled one back before half time and were just about the better side in the second half scoring the winner in the last 10 mins. It was a very good match as both teams approached it determined to win and it remained competitive throughout.

Sat. 5th Apr. 2003

v

Old Blackburnians  CUP Round 1  (a)  3 - 4  (ht. 2-2)

scorers : Warburton2,Patel

With a weakened side we managed to get off to a good start but couldn't sustain it and it was disappointing to lose after being 2-0 up at one stage. Cup is straight KO so that's it for this year.

Sat. 29th Mar. 2003

v

Thornleigh  (h)  6 - 1  (ht. 3-1)

scorers : Martin3,Patel,Szmitt,Eccles

We totally dominated and outplayed these championship contenders. Where might we have been but for all those draws we had ?

Sat. 1st Mar . 2003

v

Oldham Hulmeians  (a)  3 - 2  (ht. 2-1)

scorers : Connelly, Martin, Davies

Solid but unspectacular performance and a welcome 3 points against hard working opponents who didn't make it easy for us.

Sat. 15th Feb. 2003

v

Mostonians  (h)  3 - 1  (ht. 1-0)

scorers : Greenwood, Martin, Eccles

A commanding performance against league leaders, saw us dominate most of the match and get our just rewards with three fine goals sealing a great win.

Sat. 1st Feb. 2003

v

Newman College  (a)  5 - 1  (ht. 3-1)

scorers : Davies3,Martin,Blackwell

A dominant performance saw us take all 3 points against local rivals. The highlight was the team performance roundew off by a Davies hat-trick.

Sat. 18th Jan. 2003

v

Thornleigh  (a)  2 - 8  (ht. 2-4)

scorers : Martin2

A poor start meant we were always chasing the game but never looked like getting on even terms. All in all our worst performance of the season.

Sat. 21st Dec. 2002

v

Hesketh Casuals  (a)  2 - 2  (ht. 1-1)

scorers : Eccles 2

We were ahead twice through Eccles but couldn't hold on. Altogether a disappointing result and performance.

Sat. 14th Dec. 2002

v

Astley Bridge Sladians  (h)  3 - 3   (ht. 1-1)

scorers : Lafferty,Davies2

Probably a fair result in the end but in a game where both sides had chances and also had periods on top we should've pressed home our early advantage when we scored first through Davies after a strong opening 20 mins. Having lost the initiative and then the lead we came from behind after Lafferty got us back to 2-2 when he powered home a corner then Davies equalised again in the last 5 mins to secure us a deserved point.

Sat. 7th Dec. 2002

v

Walden (a)  3 - 2 (ht. 2-0)

scorers : Martin 3

We dominated the first half playing plenty decent football and deserving (at least) our two goal lead. However second half we never managed to pressure them as much. They got back to 2-2, both goals from corners, before Martin completed his hat-trick to win us the three points, that we just about deserved.

Sat. 23rd Nov. 2002

v

Little Lever SC   (a) 1 - 2  (ht. 0-1)

scorers : Davies

A Davies goal was all we had to show for a battling show against league toppers. We only needed a little more luck in front of goal and this could've been a better result for us.

Sat. 16th Nov. 2002

v

Burnley GS (h)  3 - 1 (ht. 0-0)

scorers : Martin 3

After a poor first half by both teams, we sparked into life to score 3 second half goals and ran out worthy winners.

Sat. 19th Oct. 2002

v

Accrington Amateurs  (a) 2 - 3  (ht. 2-1)

scorers : Martin 2

A game we were on top throughout and lost to a 90th minute sucker punch that sent us home with no points and our first defaet of the season.

Sat. 12th Oct. 2002

v

Oldham Hulmeians (h) 5 - 3 (ht. 2-1)

scorers : Martin2,Davies,Blackwell,Whillians

A free scoring forward line continued their good form and although defensive lapses made it closer than it should have been we always looked like winning.

Sat. 5th Oct. 2002

v

Hesketh Casuals (h) 7 -1 (ht. 4-0)

scorers : Martin3,Davies2,Murch,og

A resoundinig win, capped by several top class moves that resulted in goals. An all round fantastic team performance, where we proved too strong from start to finish and scored at all the right times to deny them any chance of a comeback.

Sat. 28th Sep. 2002

v

AstleyBridge/Sladians (a) 0 - 0 (ht. 0-0)

scorers : -

A dour game, as scoreline suggests, our cause not helped by too many key absentees. We did however play well enough and created several chances that should've been taken.

Sat. 21st Sep. 2002

v

Walkden   (h)  1 - 1 (ht. 0-0)

scorers : Martin

The seconds buoyed by their 4 match unbeaten start to the season went into this match confident of continuing this fine run. The first ten minutes were a scrappy affair with the visitors looking to spoil at every opportunity and with the referee looking ominously absent from making some tough decisions. Unlike previous matches Broughton struggled to get the fluent passing game going and most attacks seem to be breaking down within a few passes. Walkden hardly troubled the Broughton defence but seemed to be succeeding in their aim by preventing the home team from settling into a pattern of play. The first half seemed to be heading into nothing as both teams struggled to find their footballing feet, until a long ball from deep in the Broughton half found Martin wide on the right, cutting inside onto his favoured right foot, faked to shoot, beat another defender and placed a fine shot inside the near post, a sublime piece of skill to illuminate what had been an otherwise forgettable first half. It was just what broughton had needed, unfortunately instead of pressing on from this, a lack of concentration for the next five minutes enabled Walkden to equalise. Walkden buoyed by the equaliser continued to spoil, and the referee, allowed personal battles to continue, finally lost control when a basic foul developed into a melee, the referee had no option but to send the pair off. With both teams down to ten, Broughton employed three at the back for the second half as Walkden failed to make any impact. Broughton doing most of the pressing had some half chances to score but lacked their usual composure in front of goal. The game deteriorated in quality as tempers flared and a further 3 players were sent off. Down to eight men Broughton held on for a draw, to maintain the unbeaten record, but in the end it was all either team deserved because of their indiscipline.

Sat. 14th Sep. 2002

v

Mostonians (a) 3 - 3 (ht. 1-1)

scorers : Martin, Davies, Blackwell

Another game we should have won after being 3-1 up. Disappointing to only get a point after dominating the first hour, 3 fine goals should've sealed a win.

Sat. 7th Sep. 2002

v

Little Lever SC (h)  5 - 5 (ht. 3-1)

scorers : Martin 5

A match we dominated and led 3-1 and 5-2 but injuries in key positions depleted us and they finished the match stronger, overall we were disappointed not to have won. A fine goalscoring performance from Tony M.

Sat. 31st Aug. 2002

v

Burnley GS (a>h)  5 - 1 (ht. 3-1)

scorers : Martin3, Warburton, Dillon

A fine all round display capped off with some great goals.

v

Newman College (h)  11 - 0   (ht. 6-0)

scorers : Parry4,Martin3,Dillon,Szmitt, Allen,Lafferty

Against an obviously under prepared team we started the season in the best possible way.

scorers : Seddon,Glennister,Lafferty,Stephenson

At last, we got what our performance deserved - a win. The first was a penalty but the other three goals were either clinical finishing or good team work with end product. Basically just what we've failed to do all season.

Sat. 12th Apr. 2003

v

Old Boltonians 'A'  CUP (h)  1 - 3 (ht.1-1)

scorers : Connelly

Same story different words. In the 85th min, at 1-1 and well on top with possesion and territory we hit the post and they went the length of the pitch and had a shot that missed our post - but hit the back of the net. They then scored in the last min to rub salty stuff into our wounds.

Sat. 5th Apr. 2003

v

Chaddertonians 'A'  CUP (h)  4 - 4  (ht. 3-3)

scorers : Bottomley2,Mick,S.Fenton

An amazingly lively start saw us take a 3-0 lead after 20 mins. Then we self destructed to enable them to equalise before half time, then take the lead in the second half. We managed to salvage a hard earned, but deserved, draw with a late equaliser.

Sat. 29th Mar. 2003

v

Thornleigh 'A'  CUP (h)  1 - 3  (ht. 0-2)

scorers : Bottomley

Bad start to the cup campaign, against a team which offered very little creatively. After an early goal against we struggled and failed to get back on level terms.

Sat. 1st Mar. 2003

v

Thornleigh 'A'  (a)  0 - 3  (ht. 0-2)

scorers :

Couldn't score again when we were on top played good football no end product.

Sat. 22nd Feb. 2003

v

Lymm 'B'  (h)  1 - 2  (ht. 0-1)

scorers :

Too many missed chances, punished for our defensive errors.

Sat. 25th Jan. 2003

v

Thornleigh 'A'  (h)  0 - 1  (ht. 0-1)

scorers : -

Oh dear ! How many more hard luck stories before this season ends ? (It's wearing thin). To be fair to our opponents they did create several good chances and our goalkeeper Seddon snr was outstanding, but they were only on the counter attack, as we had all the pressure and missed many chances including a late penalty. Seddon jnr was the pick of the outfield players in a good footballing and battling display that once more did not give us, what we felt was, our just reward.

Sat. 18th Jan. 2003

v

Old Blackburnians 'B'  (a)  0 - 3  (ht. 0-0)

scorers : -

Sorry if this sounds daft, but we did play well. Should've been ahead before half time and conceded two in 5 mins at start of second half, this spurred our opponents on for a while, but we did rally and again should've scored before their late third sealed our fate. On a day when 9 of our outfield players had efforts on goal, some easier than others, and some more often than others, we did not feel we got what we deserved.

Sat. 21st Dec. 2002

v

Bolton Wyresdale 'A'  (h)  1 - 4  (ht. 1-2)

scorers : Lafferty

After a bright start that saw us deservedley take the lead, we then conceded two soft goals before half time. The second half saw another bright start by us, but a calamity of errors and we conceded another goal. Their fourth goal, in contrast to the other gifts, was a well worked and finished move. We did continue to play some nice football but it was only approach work and this lack of goals combined with our defensive slip-ups cost us.

Sat. 30th Nov. 2002

v

Rossendale Ams 'A'(h)  1 - 3 (ht. 0-0)

scorers : Smith

A great game between two evenly matched teams that changed in 5 mins at the start of ther second half when Rossendale scored two quick goals. We pulled one back, through Smith, and then looked the more likely to score again but were caught on the break in the last minute to seal our fate. Overall a much improved performance and a game played in great spirit by both teams.

Sat. 23rd Nov. 2002

v

Radcliffe Ams 'A'(a)  1 - 4 (ht. 0-3)

scorers : Seddon

Disasterous first half where 2 of the 3 goals were given away. We fought back in the second half to regain some pride and after Seddon scored, they wobbled as we dominated for a spell. We had a couple of chances to score again which would've made the game interesting, but in the end couldn't complain about the result, only about our first half performance.

Sat. 2nd Nov. 2002

v

Rossendale Ams 'B'  (a)  2 - 3 (ht. 1-2)

scorers : Bell,Martin

On an extremely heavy pitch we couldn't get our passing game going, and in all honesty their direct approach was the more successful tactic. Although we never gave up hope of salvaging something the conditions more than anything beat us.

Sat. 19th Oct. 2002

v

Bolton Wyresdale 'A'  (a) 5 - 3  (ht. 4-2)

scorers : Major2,Dunn2,Glennister

A fine all round display from Major saw him bag two goals, and but for some outstanding goalkeeping, he could've added to these. Dunn was rewarded for his efforts with two opportunist goals, while striking partner Bottomley snr. set up Glennister for his first ever goal for Broughton. In a game where we scored early and were always clearly ahead.

Sat. 12th Oct. 2002

v

Lymm 'B' (a) 2 - 2 (ht. 1-2)

scorers : Marchuk, Cooke

A car crash, on the way home that saw 3 of our players (Marchuk, Rawlinson, Latham) visit hospital, took precedence in our thoughts above the game we should've won. All 3 are OK and on the mend, but battered and bruised we hope to see them back in Broughton colours as soon as their fit. Both scorers were on the mark for Broughton for the first time.

Sat. 5th Oct. 2002

v

Accrington Ams 'A'  (h) 0 - 6 (ht. 0-3)

scorers : -

We were completely overwhelmed in the first 15 mins conceding 3 goals that were all due to defensive errors or mix-ups. Although we worked hard these early setbacks meant that we were always chasing the game and despite a triple substitution, in desperation, early in the second half we never looked like getting much out of the game and conceded further bad goals in the second half.

Sat. 28th Sep. 2002

v

Rossendale Ams 'A' (a) 0 - 2 (ht. 0-1)

scorers : -

A weakened team couldn't make an impression on a well drilled big defence. We struggled to exert any sustained pressure and couldn't complain at the result. Fisher worked hard for us but too many others couldn't match his performance.

Sat. 21st Sep. 2002

v

Radcliffe Ams 'A'  (h) 3 - 3 (ht. 3-1)

scorers : Lafferty, Fisher, McGill

Broughton thirds maintained their unbeaten start to the season, but should've had a win after a terrific first half display that was rewarded with 3 super goals. Firstly Lafferty rounded the keeper to open the scoring in the 15th min, then Fisher blasted a rocket into the top corner from outside the box, and after the visitors had pulled one back McGill clinically slotted home the third after a good passing movement. However the second half saw the visitors get a goal back immediately and that set the tone for the half. We never got any ascendancy in the second period and conceded a goal from a corner that completed the scoring on the day. They were more satisfied with the point than us in complete contrast to last week. Broughton were also well served on the day by Fenton, Smalley and man-of-the-match Glennister.

Sat. 14th Sep. 2002

v

Bolton County 'A' (a) 0 - 0 (ht. 0-0)

scorers : -

A fully deserved a battling draw, after having to play the last forty minutes with only ten men, following two unfortunate injuries. In truth, we didn't trouble them too much, but then we also restricted them to long distance efforts from outside the area. If we continue to show the same determined effort and commitment we should win more games than we lose. A final mention should go out to the younger members of the team who are showing lots of promise. (That's NOT you John M !!!)

Sat. 7th Sep. 2002

v

Old Blackburnians 'B' (h) 5 - 2 (ht. 3-0)

scorers : Lafferty2, Osgood2, Smalley

A sound start to the season with goals at all the right times and a solid midfield and defence.

4th Team Fixtures + Results, Scorers and Match Reports (where submitted).

Tue. 1st Apr 2003

v

Astley Bridge/Sladians 'A'  (a)  0 - 2  (ht. 0-0)

scorers :

They clinched the league title with this result, although at half time it could've gone either way. However once they scored their desire to win prevailed, and we can only congratulate them on their achievement.

Sat. 22nd Mar. 2003

v

Gregorians 'B'  CUP (h)  1 - 2  (ht. -)

scorers : Porter

Lost to last kick-of -the-game, very depressing.

Sat. 15th Mar. 2003

v

Bolton County 'B'  CUP (a)  2 - 3  (ht. 1-2)

scorers : Roberts, Bradshaw

This narrow defeat is a bad start to the cup campaign against a team we're capable of defeating as we've beaten and drawn with them in the league.

Sat. 1st Mar. 2003

v

Thornleigh 'B'  (h)  4 - 1  (ht. -)

scorers : Roberts2,Bradshaw2

Convincing performance with midfield domination and scoring at all the right times.

Sat. 18th Jan. 2003

v

Horwich RMI 'A'  (h)  3 - 3  (ht. 1-2)

scorers : Roberts2,Keen

After dominating the first hour and coasting at 3-1 with 20 mins to go we were extremely disappointed to only gain a point. Two Roberts goals and an effort from Keeno gave us this sound platform which we did not convert into three points.

Sat. 14th Dec. 2002

v

Accrington Ams 'B'  (a)  5 - 2  (ht. 3-1)

scorers : Martland,Roberts3,Bradshaw

A game we dominated from when Martland opened the scoring inside the first 15 mins. Roberts continued his goalscoring form with a hat-trick and Bradshaw completed a satisfactory day for us with the fifth.

Sat. 7th Dec. 2002

v

Little Lever 'B'  (h)  5 - 5  (ht.2-3)

scorers : Roberts2,Bradshaw2,Porter

A real roller-coaster match saw us go two nil - up, then we went 5-2 down before battling back to gain a point in this high scoring draw. A spirited performance.

Sat. 30th Nov. 2002

v

Burnley GS 'A'  (a) 2 - 4   (ht. 1-2)

scorers : Clarke,Bradshaw

    A thoroughly disappointing performance.

Sat. 23rd Nov. 2002

v

Old Boltonians 'B' (h)  1 - 4 (ht. 0-2)

scorers : Clarke

Always chasing the game after early setback of goals conceded. Never got on terms with them and couldn't convert our chances when presented with the opportunities.

Sat. 16th Nov. 2002

v

Bolton County 'B'  (a) 4 - 4  (ht. 2-1)

scorers : Bradshaw3,Roberts

Disappointing to have led 3-1 and not finished up as winners.

Sat. 26th Oct. 2002

v

Thornleigh 'B' (a)  1 - 5 (ht. 0-2)

scorers : Bradshaw

Poor team performance resulting in this bad defeat.

Sat. 19th Oct. 2002

v

Astley Bridge/Sladians 'A'  (h) 2 - 3  (ht. 0-2)

scorers : Giggs, Roberts

Against current unbeaten league leaders we got off to a bad start and after being 0-2 down at half time we then conceded a third before mounting our fightback. Finishing stronger than our opponents we just ran out of time as they just clung on to deny us at least a share of the points.

Sat. 12th Oct. 2002

v

Accrington Ams 'B' (h) 6 - 0 (ht. -)

scorers : Roberts2,Clarke,Hodson,Bradsahw2

A wonderful team performance where we were strong from the start. With a good level of finishing we were resounding victors.

Sat. 5th Oct. 2002

v

Little Lever 'B' (a) 1 - 3 (ht. 1-2)

scorers : Porter

Overall a lack lustre display, we worked extremely hard and Atkinson won a penalty that Porter converted but we needed to press home with this momentum and didn't.

Sat. 28th Sep. 2002

v

Burnley GS 'A' (h) 0 - 2 (ht. 0-1)

scorers : -

A poor performance in front of goal, not just the forwards missed good chances, meant when they scored we couldn't respond in the necessary manner and the game slipped from our grasp.

Sat. 21st Sep. 2002

v

Old Boltonians 'B' (a) 1 - 2 (ht. 1-1)

scorers : Bowerman

Another fine away performance failed to get the team any reward when Bolton snatched the winner, and the three points, with the final attack of the game.

Sat. 14th Sep. 2002

v

Bolton County 'B' (h) 4 - 0 (ht. 2-0)

scorers : Bradshaw2, Roberts, Bowerman

Continuing on from last weeks display we started positively got our rewards and continued to deny them any quality openings. Which meant our goals took the pressure off and we were able to record a convincing win.

Sat. 7th Sep. 2002

v

Horwich RMI 'A' (a) 3 - 0 (ht. 2-0)

scorers : Roberts2, Bradshaw

A match in which we seized the initiative and never relinquished it, getting season off to a great start.
